The Roots of Our Nation

by: Tess Bueno

Happy Monday everyone! As we seek to understand and address the current crisis in our nation, I thought it would be helpful to recall the wisdom of our beginning. To explore and dig up the roots and core values that shaped America back in 1777. The land upon where the pillars of Valor, Purity, and Justice were planted. Who better to symbolize our nation's wholesome beginning than George Washington, our 1st President.

We all know the story: when he was a child, he cut down his father's beloved cherry tree. Despite the trouble he ended up in, he could not bear to lie to his father and admitted that he chopped the tree when asked. As a six-year-old, he was so pure, so courageous, and ready to handle the consequences. His father rather than punish him embraced him for his honesty.

Washington grew to be a giant in good character, as he led and instilled these virtues as a General in the Army and as the First President of the United States. Now in 2021, we watch in shock as Black Lives Matter destroy the statues of George Washington, representing the virtues of America to replace them with lies. Let's not allow the left to dismantle the moral fabric of our nation, and never forget to teach our children that America was shaped by men of great faith who were honest, righteous, and courageous! Let Us Also Be Courageous and Carry on their Great Faith and Good Character of America.
